The prognostic value of histopathological grading of spinocellular cervical carcinoma was studied on 104 patients stages Ib-IIIb (FIGO). A new histopathological scoring system of differentiation is suggested. The scoring system is based on semiquantitative evaluation of keratinization, stratification and invasion. The score reflects the relations among differentiation, metastatic potency and radiosensitivity, is simple and reproducible. In stage Ib the best prognosis was found by well-differentiated carcinoma, in stage II by moderately differentiated and in stage III by moderately and poorley differentiated carcinoma. The score is of prognostic significance and enables to establish prognostic subgroups within FIGO stating together with tumor volume and lymphography. Clinical application of histopathological score of differentiation is discussed in stage Ib.
