Summary:

In a period of 27 years 60 children with Hodgkin's disease were folowed-up. The results of the treatment were evaluated in three groups of children. L5 patients of the first group were hospitalized in years 1961 till 1974 and were treated at the beginning of the disease mostly with radiotherapy to the involved fields, chemotherapy was added as monotherapy by progression of the disease only. 14 children in the second grupp admitted in years 1975 till 1979 were treated with a combination of radiotherapy and chemotherapy (MOPP or CVVP) 31 children followed-up in the years 1980 till 1987 were treated according to the protocol of the Institut of clinical oncology in Bratislava 5080, which consists of radiotherapy in the stage I and II and a combination of multidrug chemotherapeutic schema ABVP (adriamycin, bleomycin, vinblastine, prednisone). The cumulative rate of survivors in remission was in the first group 0,44 at 27 years, 0,52 at 13 years in the second group and 0,91 at 8 years in the third group. Stating laparotomy with selective splenectomy was performed in 16 children of the third group. Although the procedure improved the diagnosis on 6 children, it did'nt influence the prognosis of the disease neither in favorable nor in unfavorable direction.
