Summary: The use of flow cytometry in hematologic oncology. The article summarizes the possibilities of the use of flow cytometry in hematologic oncology. It describes the possibilies of deepening the diagnostics of acute leukemia, chronic leukemia, of the myelodysplasticsyndrom and of malignant lymphomas by means of this method. Attention is also paid to the DNA analysis, which will contribute substantially to the diagnostic of hematologic malignancies. Flow cytometry enable monitoring cell kinetics, the reduction of malignant cells, the residual illness, the effects of drugs and the drug resistance, the follow-up of protooncogens and immunologic characteristics.
