Klin Onkol 1992; 5(4): 110-112.

The report aims at analysing oral complications of locoregional chemotherapy and radiotherapy for orofacial malignancies. According to its clinical characteristics and histological picture oral mucositis shows three degrees of the oral mucose affection. Its occurrence is a warning symptom of developing general cytotoxicity and immunosupression. The therapy for oral mucositis is particularly local and symptomatic because causal therapy means a change or interruption of programmed oncotherapy. Psychic support of a patient and early introduction of supporting treatment and parenteral nutrition are components of therapeutical procedure in oral complications of chemo- and radiotherapy.
