Summary: This paper reports retrospective study of patients operated on in the years 1976-1994 at the 1st Surgical Clinic in Brno and at the Surgical Clinic in Brno-Bohunice because of pancreatic tumours. 217 operations were carried out at the 1st Surgical Clinic till 1991, 10% were resection procedures. 96 patients were operated on at a new Surgical Clinic in Bohunice since 1992 and resection procedures created 35%. 30ty day perioperative mortality was 25% in last 3 years. From the point of view of the long term survival the worst prognoses have patients with ductal adenocarcinoma. On the contrary very good prognosis we observe in rare malignant tumours like carcinoma gelatinosum, papilary cystadenocarcinoma and carcinoid. The most common perioperative complications were in the group of patients in the age above 60 years. Hemipancreatoduodenectomy was the most frequent resection procedure, total pancreatectomy was done only in selected individuals with multifocal tumours.
