Our experience with screening of colorectal cancer with the HAEMOCCULT test

Summary: In 1996, we perfomed 1600 Haemoccult tests. 1538 were evaluated in asymptomatic subjects above 45 years of age. In 31 positive patients, total colonoscopy was subsequently performed. 12 adenomatous polyps were detected, and 10 adenomatous polyps were removed by endoscopic polypectomy.
