Klin Onkol 2000; 13(4): 112-115.

Summary: Brain tumors represent about 20% of all pediatric malignancies with about 30% of embryonal and high grade gliomas out of them. Progress achieved for pediatric CNS tumors, compared to extracranial ones remains clearly suboptimal. The reasons for high dose chemotherapy with hemopoetic stem cell support implementation for high risk pediatric patients with CNS tumors are dissussed, together with some remarks about different cytostatic agents used in the brain tumors chemotherapy.
