Abstract: Nuclear medicine plays an important role in the management of childhood malignancy, particularly in the solid tumours. Scintigraphy is a complementary investigation to other radiological techniques which adds the functional information to the anatomical investigations such as CT, MRI and ultrasound. Scintigraphy can be used in the initial diagnosis and staging, assessment of tumour response to treatment, detection of recurrence and the diagnosis of complications of cancer treatment. Radionuclides are also used in selected malignancies in treatment. This article discusses the radiopharmaceuticals which can be used for the radionuclide diagnostics and therapy in pediatric oncology.
