Summary: The aim of conformal interstitial brachytherapy planning is a dose escalation in target volume with minimal irradiation of surrounding normal tissues. It improves local control of disease and lowers acute and late toxicity. Conformal planning has become a standard in external beam radiotherapy, but has been developing in brachytherapy.
