Summary
Aim: To establish ultrasound topography of the axilla in order to improve communication between sonographists and between the sonographist and the surgeon, primarily in case of the sonographically detected positive lymph nodes.
Methods: Our proposal is based on present imaging of the axilla along with anatomy. Our suggested quadrant topology is more appropriate for ultrasound imaging.
Conclusion: Preoperative ultrasonography of the axilla has become a standard preoperative examination in breast cancer patients and its importance further increases along with sentinel node biopsy development.
