Klin Onkol 1988; 1(5): 130-132.

Summary:  The authors concentrate on the importance of the antigens of the HLA-system in the treatment of carcinoma of the nasopharynx. In view of the fact that radiotherapy represents the dominant therapeutic method, the study is based on the many dependencies of the antigens of the HLA-system on radiotherapeutic procedures and factors that influence the results and effectiveness of radiotherapy. It is interesting to note that the study has proved that the receptiveness to the disease, i.e.to the carcinoma of the nasopharynx, and to therapeutic procedures is mapped on the same loci of antigens. On the contrary, resistence to the disease accompanies resistence to therapeutic procedures. Other factors - age, sex and the stage of the carcinoma - appear significant in standard parameters.
