The use ELLA-PORTR for maintenance of long term venous and arterial access

Summary: Between 1993 to 1995, nineteen titan ports made by the Czech firm ELLA-CS were tested in four hospitals in the Czech republic. Ten arterial ports were used in regional chemotherapy of liver metastases. Nine venous ports were used for satisfactory maintenance of venous access in oncological patients. No technical complication during testing was the most important observation during evaluation of the clinical test. Port ELLA PORTR is easy to implant and, in indicated eases, its tisane presented advantages towards the satisfactory maintanance of long term venous access. An improvement in the quality of life can be expected using the port technology. Key words: port, long-term venous (access), regional chemotherapy
