Klin Onkol 1999; 12(3): 107-108.

Summary: Cutaneous recurrence and skin metastases from breast cancer present a particular problem when surgery, radiotherapy or systemic treatments are no more options. Visible lesions remind the patients of the disease thus having a negative impact on the patients´ well being. Palliative topical treatment with miltefosine 6% solution yilds a 27% response rate in a heavily pretreated non-selected patient population. The response rate was found to be higher (40%) in patients with multiple small nodular or purely superficial infiltrations than in patients with predominantly large tumorous nodules (15%). Fully out-patient based palliative treatment is well tolerated and improves patients´quality of life.
