Klin Onkol 1999; 12(4): 136-138.

Abstract: Background: Proliferative – apoptotic predictive and prognostic factors are explored in prostatic carcinoma in relation with androgen receptor (AR). Design and subjects: We tested 52 prostatic carcinomas obtained by radical prostatectomy in a retrospective study. Methods and results: Immunohistochemistry was used for detecting AR, bcl-2, c-myc, p-glycoprotein, PCNA and Ki-67 proteins. For AR, biochemical dextran charcoal method was used as well. By Spearman’s rank test, we found correlations with proliferation or differentiation of prostatic carcinoma. Conclusions: The results suggest that AR plays role in proliferation control but is not directly related to frequency of apoptosis in prostatic carcinoma.
