Probiotics in oncology - yes or no?

Probiotics are defined as live microorganisms which administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit on the host. Their effect is closely related to the natural function of gut flora. Probiotics could be applied in therapy and mainly in prevention of many civilization disorders. The experience with the use of probiotic bacteria in cancer patients is limited with regard to evoking the iatrogenic infection. Availability of safe probiotic strains ith demonstrated clinical effectivity is the main assumption of their wider application.
