Prostate specific antigen is one of the most frequently used serum tumor markers in urology. New approaches leading to improvement of its clinical validity appeared recently, e.g.estimation of free PSA fraction, relationship of PSA to patients age, to prostate volume, PSA velocity, ultrasensitive determination etc. The role of PSA in screening of prostate cancer, prostate cancer diagnosis and patients monitoring is reviewed.
